The Platform was built on the occasion of the Winter Olympic Games, and the Red Arch by Benedetto Camerana and Hug Dutton, hanging 69 mt. over the railway, has been the symbol of the Games.
The platform connects the Lingotto district with the Olympic Village (converted after the Games into a residential area) and with the Oval, the indoor arena for ice skating designed by Alessandro and Pino Zappini with John Barrow, which is today a centre for congresses and trade fairs.
