Where we are
The hotel has a superb location in the heart of Torino, right on Corso Vittorio Emanuele, one of the major roads that run right through the centre of the city. As you exit the hotel and cross Corso Vittorio Emanuele, you will come to Via Roma. After 500 metres, you will see the exquisite 17th century Baroque architecture of Piazza San Carlo, with a statue of Emanuele Filiberto on horseback in the centre of the square. Emanuele Filiberto was the first Savoy duke to choose the city of Torino as the capital of his territory, shifting this honour from Chambery, which had previously been the capital.
A further 10-minute walk, under the arches of Via Roma, will bring you to Piazza Castello, which has been the city's governmental centre throughout its 2000-year history. The square features Palazzo Madama in its centre with Palazzo Reale (The Royal Palace) in the background. The square is surrounded on all sides by historic 17th and 18th century buildings, including Palazzo del Governo (home of Piedmont's regional authority), the Royal Armoury, the Royal Theatre and the Church of San Lorenzo. Behind the Royal Palace stands Torino's 15th century cathedral, which contains the Chapel of the Holy Shroud. Next to this are the Roman Theatre and the Porte Palatine, the ancient gateway to the city, Torino's best known and most important remnant of its ancient Roman past.
